Laker Builders Merchant has recently opened a “new and improved” shop at its Crawley branch.
Following the acquisition of an additional unit at its Crawley branch, the team at Laker – led by MD Steve Robinson and Founder Ady Laker – have created a new spacious and brightly lit shop which is said to offer a more welcoming atmosphere for customers.
Steve explained: “This new shop allows Laker to be much more retail friendly, whilst still giving our core Trade Customers the excellent service they expect from us.”
The shop sits within a larger unit which is run as a forklift free zone to prioritise on customer safety. In addition, Laker has provided improved customer access and parking for up to 12 customers at the facility whilst “completely modernising the whole branch” in line with its green ethos. This meant the shop was properly insulated along with LED lighting and air source heat pumps using eco-friendly R32 gas being installed in the branch.
The launch was described as creating a bit of a buzz with Crawley MP, Henry Smith, officially opening the shop by cutting the ribbon in front of the new on-street entrance on Rutherford Way in Manor Royal. In addition, a day of fun was created with games and challenges for customers, friends and other attendees to win prizes, all to support Laker’s 2022 nominated charity Men’s Shed which focus on reducing isolation in men.
Household name suppliers “came out in droves” to support Laker on the day, including Bostik, Mannok, Crown, OX Tools, NoMorePly, TIMCO, XL Joinery, Stanley, Irwin, Cure It, Reisser and Werner and “were incredibly generous”, giving extra discounts and donating prizes including work platforms, cement, blue tooth speakers, Amazon vouchers, toolboxes, screwdrivers and even a bottle of champagne!
In further celebration of its new modern shop, Laker says it is offering up to 20% discount with all new trade accounts for the next two weeks.
