Donaldson Group subsidiary MGM Timber has sponsored middleweight boxer Sam Hickey all the way to gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Since 2019, the merchant’s Dundee branch has provided financial assistance to support Sam’s training sessions and travel to competitions like the European Amateur Boxing Championships, where he won bronze.
At the recent Commonwealth Games, the 22-year-old Dundodian beat Australia’s Callum Peters in the final to become the first Scot to win the men’s middleweight title. He also secured the prestigious accolade of being named the named the best male boxer of the Games, and is the first boxer from Dundee to win Commonwealth gold since Scottish Sports Hall of Famer, Dick McTaggart who won the lightweight division in the 1958 games in Cardiff.
