MKM Building Supplies is marking its 21st anniversary with a campaign to “give something back” to everyone that has supported its growth over the last two decades.
Co-Founder and Executive Chairman David Kilburn commenced the celebrations for MKM’s 21st anniversary by booking Rod Stewart to play Hull’s KCOM Stadium this June. With proceeds going to two Hull-based charities, the merchant reports that “it seemed a great way to thank the business’s home city for it support… (and) the 21 Thank Yous campaign is his way of extending the celebrations across the country, spanning all 42 branches of MKM and offering something to customers old and new”.
Online and in-branch, there will be 21 days of offers, giveaways and prizes comprising everything from t-shirts and speakers to competitions offering the chance to win an Apple watch, a £500 holiday voucher or tickets to the anniversary concert.
The business, founded in 1995, has enjoyed continued success and organic growth, weathering several tough economic times to come out as the UK’s largest independent builders’ merchant. MKM now has branches across the UK with plans to expand over the next five years.
David Kilburn commented: “21 years is an exceptional milestone and we felt it was right to extend our celebrations to include as many people as possible. The last 21 years have relied on staff, customers, friends, colleagues and the communities in which our branches are based to name a few. This campaign lets us share our gratitude in a variety of fun and exciting ways.”
