MKM Newbury has opened its doors to the trade and public, as the builders’ merchant continues to grow its branch network.
The launch has created 24 new jobs for the area and this latest expansion for MKM sees Andrew Barrett, Richard Meakin and Chris West take the lead as Co-Branch Directors. The trio have just under 90 years combined experience in merchanting and have enjoyed working alongside one another on numerous occasions in the past.
Andrew said: “We’re from the same generation and share the same values – for us it’s all about building our offering around the needs of our customers and giving them the best experience and service possible. We’re delighted to officially open the doors of our new Newbury branch and be part of the MKM family.
“The MKM way brings a completely fresh and exciting approach to merchanting and all the team here are looking forward to welcoming customers and ensuring they have everything they need.”
Chris added: “For us, the opportunity to build our own dream team was a real motivation behind taking on this challenge. We’ve got the best of the best on board and everyone wants to make a real difference. To us, not only does that means supporting our customers with a friendly and first-class service, but it also means making a significant commitment to the local community.”
The branch has already begun building some fantastic partnerships and relationships in the region, including supporting Newbury Rugby Club and Newbury Football Club. The outlet has also pledged its ongoing support to Swings & Smiles – a local charity that plays an essential role in supporting children (and their families) with special needs.
The charity has been established for 15 years and is currently supporting more than 1,100 families across Berkshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire. And to mark the opening of MKM Newbury, Swings & Smiles received a £1,000 donation from the branch.
Jo Ramsay, Senior Fundraiser & Volunteer Manager at Swings & Smiles, said: “For us to build a relationship with MKM Newbury right from the start of their journey is so important. We want to make long term local relationships and partnerships, so we’re delighted that the team has chosen to support us.”
