MKM Building Supplies opened its latest new branch in Ashford on Monday 27th September – run by father and son duo John and Tom Rose.
Branch Directors John and Tom will be joined at the new depot by a team of 15. Every member is said to have been brought on board for their experience and reliability (collectively, they boast a combined 300 years of service in the merchant sector), and together they aim to offer the people of Ashford a “one-stop-shop alternative to the traditional builders’ merchant”.
John said: “I was delighted when Tom suggested we go into business together, and run our own merchants. I have 40 years-experience in the construction industry, and I’m champing at the bit to deliver the service I know the area deserves.
“This is a family-run business, we value that, and we intend for the values that go with that to shine through in how we operate. MKM Ashford stands for outstanding customer service, and a personal touch. We want our customers to get to know us at the branch, and we want to get to know them, so that we can work to get them exactly what they need.
“MKM is a one-stop-shop, we stock all building products, (however) we don’t just cater to trade – everyone is welcome and we are more than happy to show general public visitors around our kitchen and bathroom showrooms or provide everything they need for a DIY project or renovation.”
Kate Tinsley, MKM CEO, added: “I have every faith in the Ashford team, and I wish them every success. Their commitment to the local area and to first rate customer service is exactly what MKM is all about. As a company we value the communities around our branches and strive to give them the top-of-the-line facilities and services they deserve. The Ashford team are committed to this, and have the experience, drive, and passion for giving the area a premier destination that will provide a new experience for the people of Ashford.”
Indicative of its support for its local community, the new store has donated £1,500 to the Pilgrims Hospice Ashford charity, with the guest charity having the honours of officially opening the branch. With a steady flow of customers expected going forward, it is hoping to raise a further £500 from donations to total £2,000 raised for the charity.
