MKM has officially cut the ribbon on its new branch in Elgin, the merchant’s northernmost branch, which has created 12 jobs in the Scottish town.
On offer at MKM’s branch in Elgin is a full portfolio of products and services, including building materials, roofing, joinery and timber supplies. The branch also offers a wide range of services including underfloor and roofing take-off, landscaping display stands as well as a free measure and design service for kitchens and bathrooms.
MKM Building Supplies was founded in 1995, and has grown steadily to reportedly become the UK’s largest independent builders’ merchant. The Hull-based firm cut the ribbon on its milestone 50th branch last year, and has plans to further expand the branch network throughout 2019. The new Elgin branch is MKM’s seventh in Scotland, and becomes the merchant’s northernmost branch in the UK, a title previously held by MKM Perth.
Heading up MKM Elgin is a duo of Branch Directors, Jon Sheard and Doug McNair. In addition to the 12 new job roles is a new vehicle fleet that will be operating in Elgin and the surrounding area, clad in the yellow-and-blue MKM branding.
Jon commented: “We’re thrilled to be opening to Elgin! We’ve taken our time to put together an unbeatable team here: full of experienced, skilled local people who fully understand the needs of those they’ll be serving – whether from trades or DIY. We can only encourage visitors to give us a try for their next project!”
Doug added: “We understand how competitive the merchant sector is – the consumer has a lot of choice – so, at MKM, we aim to set ourselves apart with a focus on customer service. This means going the extra mile to provide an unbeatable service, a fantastic product range and great prices. As the 59th national branch, the team are excited to get to work replicating the success MKM has seen elsewhere in the UK by providing a uniquely customer-focused merchant experience.”
