As a supplier to the builders’ merchant industry, Naylor Drainage has close links with City Livery Company, the Worshipful Company of Builders’ Merchants. This year’s Lord Mayor’s show was held on Saturday 12th November, and included a float from the Livery Company which was sponsored by Naylor.
The Show celebrates the inauguration of a new Lord Mayor and is one of the best-known and longest established annual events in London, dating back to the 16th century. Some 150 floats took part in the two mile procession through the City, with crowds of people lining the streets and cheering the long fleet of vehicles, marching bands, spectacular floats, carriages and much more. The whole event was captured live on the BBC.
The Livery Company’s float had the theme of ‘Builders’ Merchants: Supplying Britain’s Building Needs’ – demonstrating the importance of the industry to the UK economy, as well as highlighting the many career opportunities for young people. As a result of the company’s sponsorship, Naylor Chief Executive, Edward Naylor, and COO, Bridie Warner-Adsetts, walked the route of the parade alongside the Livery Company’s float, sporting colourful outfits which featured the company’s products.
Edward commented: “The Show was a fabulous event. Unfortunately, the weather was terrible and we got drenched but that didn’t stop thousands and thousands of people from cheering us on – and our suits got plenty of compliments too!””
