Forming part of the Independent Builders Merchant Group’s plumbing and heating division, Grant & Stone has opened its latest plumbers’ merchant and bathroom showroom in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.
Located on Nuffield Way, Abingdon, the 10,000 ft2 site provides a plumbing and heating trade counter that is said to offer “an extensive range of plumbing and heating supplies supported by expert, specialist advice; ample warehousing that mitigates against supply issues and allows for further growth; plus a showroom displaying a comprehensive range of quality bathroom fitting and bathroom products from leading designers”.
The new branch is described as an example of IBMG’s “careful site selection and successful branch launch strategy, which is specifically designed to complete gaps in its branch network”. It continues the Group’s continuing strategy of developing its divisions through a combination of new site development, acquisition and organic growth.
IBMG’s plumbing and heating division – which comprises 26 branches under the Grant & Stone Plumbers Merchants, Total Plumbing Supplies, Sussex Plumbing Supplies and DW Burns brands – will be opening additional branches in Bedford and Bletchley in early 2022, with further branches planned throughout the year.
Matt Bland, Managing Director of IBMG’s plumbing and heating division, explained: “Grant & Stone has a strong presence in and around Oxford and across the Thames Valley. However, we noted that Abingdon and its surrounding area was seriously underserved and that flagged an opportunity for us. We were fortunate to be able to appoint a great local manager in Chris Wiskin and together, we built the branch based on his knowledge of the local community’s requirements. Although the Group has grown, we remain fiercely independent in our approach, outlook and dealings with customers – it is the reason for our success.”
