Following the news that Troy (UK) Limited is in administration, NMBS has “stepped forward to offer immediate support to both independent merchants and suppliers within Troy’s member community.”
Troy had hitherto described itself as “the UK’s largest independent network and distributor of tools and maintenance supplies.” And to ensure independent merchants and suppliers can transition smoothly, NMBS states that it is “proactively engaging with Troy’s members to offer trading stability, guaranteed rebates and payment security in this uncertain time.”
Chris Hayward, NMBS CEO explained: “With almost 40 years of trading and a strong heritage in the West Country and beyond, the impact of Troy’s administration will be felt across our sector. It is critical that Troy’s independent merchant members and suppliers are not further impacted financially by this news.
“To ensure this is not the case, we are offering members and suppliers dedicated resources and tailored support to help them through the transition. This will ensure these businesses continue to access the best deals, improve supplier and merchant relationships and boost operational efficiencies that they previously depended on Troy to provide.”
NMBS highlights that it has “many supplier benefits that align with what suppliers came to expect from Troy.” It has a centralised invoicing system that guarantees on-time payments to suppliers by consolidating all member purchases into a single, predictable monthly payment cycle. This, it asserts, means suppliers receive prompt and reliable payments directly from NMBS, eliminating the risk of late or missed payments, with a debt guarantee should any of its members default on payment.
Furthermore, it has built its reputation on forging lasting relationships between suppliers and independent merchants including across the tool, maintenance and workwear sectors, as seen through its successful partnerships with suppliers such as Makita, Toolbank, Bosch, Draper, TIMCo, Portwest, Buckler, Milwaukee, Ox, Beeswift, Sika, Fischer Fixings, Sealy, Metabo, HiKOKI, Werner, Trend, Owlett-Jaton and Soudal.
