Selco Builders Warehouse has opened its latest branch in Orpington. The 68th UK store was officially opened Wednesday 19 February.
To mark the opening, the 2018 world darts champion Rob Cross was in branch to take on customers and colleagues in special challenges, while the merchant also made a £4,000 donation to the local community.
Howard Luft, Selco’s Chief Executive, said: “It’s been an incredibly busy start to the year and the Orpington branch opening is one of our major landmarks for the early part of 2020.
“London and other areas of the south east of England has been a real success story for Selco over recent years and we are delighted to open another new branch in the region.
“As with all our branches, we are committed to serving tradespeople in the local area and our ‘Screwed Down Prices’ campaign – which started recently providing significantly lower prices on a host of everyday products – is just one of several ways that we are showing support to our customers.
“We are also very aware of the importance of being a genuine multi-channel builders’ merchant and the launch of our new website last month is proving extremely popular and strengthening our offering further.”
The opening of Selco Orpington has also seen the builders’ merchant continue its support to the local communities in which it operates, with two local good causes – the Chris Aked Foundation and Orpington Eagles Football Club – both receiving £1,000, the latter in building materials to help renovate the pavilion and changing rooms at its pitch.
Selco’s nominated charity for 2020 Global’s Make Some Noise – which helps small projects that support disadvantaged children, young people and their families who are living with illness, disability or a lack of opportunity – will also receive £2,000 which will be focussed on supporting projects in and around the south east.
