Premdor supports Fire Door Safety Week

September 14th sees the launch of Fire Door Safety Week, an annual event supported by a wide range of organisations, initiated by the British Woodworking Federation, BWF-CERTIFIRE Scheme and Fire Door Inspection Scheme (FDIS).

The event is designed to raise awareness of this critical element of fire safety, engaging and educating building owners and users to ensure fire doors are fitted to the correct specification and are effectively installed and maintained.

Premdor, as one of the Country’s largest fire door manufacturers, actively supports Fire Door Safety Week and offers practical initiatives to assist the scheme build awareness amongst building owners, management companies, builders, contractors and installers.

With many thousands of deaths and injuries as a result of building fires reported every year, it is imperative that fire doors are manufactured fit for purpose, hung in an appropriate frame with attendant intumescent strips and have a controlled closing action, thereby ensuring it performs its vital safety function.

Fire doors that are compliant with relevant British and European Standards have achieved independent third party certification through the BWF-CERTIFIRE Fire Door and Doorset scheme and are able to meet the criteria contained within the RRO Fire Safety Regulations.

Every Premdor UK-manufactured fire door carries a BWF-CERTIFIRE label as an absolute guarantee the door will perform its primary function — protecting lives and saving property.
