From the pages of PBM’s September edition, we take a look at the latest new products and services from leading industry suppliers.
Toyota Material Handling – Stage V FLT engines
Toyota Material Handling’s top selling Tonero range of counterbalanced forklift trucks is now offered with newly-developed Stage V compliant diesel and LPG engines which, combined with other engineering advances incorporated within the design of the range, are said to deliver a host of environmental benefits.
For example, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon, particulate matter and nitrogen oxide emissions have all been dramatically reduced. Indeed, Toyota says that emissions from both the diesel- and LPG-fuelled Tonero Stage V forklift ranges “are now so minimal that they are notably lower than the levels set out by the European Commission in its Stage V emissions standards for non-road mobile machinery (NRMM)”.
In addition, the new Tonero range has been designed to deliver outstanding driveability while low noise and vibration levels help to keep the truck operator comfortable and productive throughout their shift.
The hydrostatic version, the Tonero HST, also features the new Stage V engine. The powerful Stage V hydrostatic engines are said to provide smooth, controllable yet rapid acceleration and allow the trucks to switch direction of travel from forward to reverse quickly and fluently. This is said to make the HST range ideally suited to busy builders’ merchant sites where a lot of ‘shunting’ work is undertaken.
Aero Healthcare – Biodegrable wipes
Enclosed in 100% recyclable packaging, Aero Healthcare says its natural fibre, biodegradable hand and surface wipes provide 99.99% protection against bacteria and viruses, including Coronavirus, whilst also enabling full eco-friendly disposal of both the wipe and packaging.
Made from compostable biodegradable fibres, the wipes are tested to European Standard efficacies and offer bactericidal, virucidal, fungicidal, chemical disinfectant and antiseptic abilities. Gently fragranced, the durable wipes are tailored to suit multi–sector distributors and end customer needs ranging from construction through to manufacturing, offices and catering. Cost effective packages for wholesalers are available, including ‘further purchase’ incentives and point of sale materials.
Spear & Jackson – BoilerMagXC
The high-performance, compact magnetic filter incorporates ‘Dual Flow’ technology to “pack a lot of performance into a compact space”. Offering simple ‘in-line’ installation, the BoilerMagXC comes in neat, retail-friendly packaging with the supplier confident it will be a “fast-moving item”.
National Sales Manager Craig Worth said: “It’s the ideal filter for those looking for high-performance protection in restricted spaces at an attractive price. We identified a gap in our range by listening to our customers and installers, responding accordingly with a product we believe will add value to merchants as well as being popular amongst installers. The response to date has been overwhelming.”
Resapol – Vandex Range
Resapol has signed a UK wide exclusive distribution agreement with USL Speciality Products for the Vandex range of products. The well-established range has been a “renowned name in waterproofing for more than 75 years” with products ranging from preventive work in new construction to complex troubleshooting in existing structures.
All the Vandex products are said to have been “developed and produced with regard for the environment and take current ecological trends into account”. Resapol Director Sean Ofsarnie said: “We are incredibly excited to build our relationship with USL further and to have the opportunity to distribute and promote such a well-known brand to our customer base.”
Toupret – Quick Fill collection
Toupret’s professional interior and exterior ready-mixed Quick Fill products offer a fast one coat repair, and the company has recently expanded the range with a new interior surfaces product that is ready-to-paint in just 30 minutes.
Fast-drying and available as a tub in either 1L or 4L sizes, it can be filled to any depth with no shrinkage or slumping. Quick Fill is also easy to sand and the firm says there is no need to spot prime before painting over it as it will not flash or grin through the paintwork.
Fernox – Smaller bottles
Fernox has expanded its range of chemical products with the launch of the new, smaller volume 265ml Protector F1 and Cleaner F3. Using the same proven formulations, with the same independent industry approvals and accreditations, just one bottle is suitable to treat the heating system of an average sized UK home (to clean and protect up to 100 litres of system water, 12 radiators or 190sqm of underfloor heating).
In keeping with the brand’s sustainability credentials, the 265ml products require less packaging, which reduces waste and lowers environmental impact.
Shurtape – T-Rex Brute Force
Shurtape’s latest addition to the T-Rex range, Brute Force tape, has launched in the UK after being tested for strength by Brian Shaw — winner of the World’s Strongest Man title in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2016.
Brian put the new product — a cloth tape that is too tough to tear by hand — through a series of lift and strength tests, and was even able to lift a 700lb concrete block with just one loop. Made with patented Forge-Link Technology, it is a high tack double thickness adhesive that can stick to uneven and dirty surfaces. UV resistant, it is also suitable for outdoor use.
The UK launch of T-Rex Brute Force is being supported with a proactive marketing campaign and point of sale materials.
Snickers Workwear – Certified Hi-Vis clothing
An integral part of any PPE package — especially in dim, dark or variable light conditions — Snickers Workwear has an extensive range of hi-vis garments to suit a wide range of work environments.
It offers a choice of jackets, trousers, shorts, toolvests, shirts and fleeces in the LITEWork, FLEXIWork AllroundWork and ProtecWork families. The firm says that all of the products combine its “unrivalled hallmarks” of functionality and comfort with the requirements of the EN20471 standard for high visibility warning clothes.
Glow-worm – Compact boiler
Said to be one of the smallest boilers currently available on the market and fitting within a casing size of 626 x 400mm, Glow-worm’s new Compact combi boiler is available in both 24 & 28kW outputs. Expanding the firm’s existing range, the unit comes in a bundle with a flue and the Power System Filter.
The boiler also has a stainless-steel heat exchanger to provide protection against corrosion for older systems, helping to increase the lifespan of the boiler, and a new touchscreen interface for ease of installation. Other features include a built in bracket for ease of installation whilst the unit is available in both natural gas and LPG versions.
ERA – Kitemarked systems
ERA states that merchants can effectively grow their smart security sales and support professional installers in allaying homeowners’ cybersecurity concerns by stocking and recommending products certified against the BSI IoT Kitemark.
The supplier worked in close collaboration with BSI to develop the standard and set a performance benchmark for the growing smart security sector. Having achieved the Kitemark in 2019, the ERA Protect range was the first — and remains the only — smart security system to carry the accreditation. The system itself includes an Alarm hub which can be paired with up to 96 PIR sensors, sirens, keypads and other accessories, plus a Smart Video Doorbell, Indoor Wi-Fi Camera and two Outdoor Cameras.
