Scott Cairns named as new Group Chief Executive of the National Timber Group

National Timber Group (NTG) is delighted to announce the appointment of Scott Cairns as its new Group Chief Executive.

Well known to many across the timber industry, Scott is said to bring “a strong track record of transformational growth and financial delivery,” gained from a career spanning almost 40 years. He has spent much of his career with the Donaldson Group, where he was Group Chief Executive until 2020 and more recently, a non-executive member of the Donaldson board.

During his 26 years with that firm, initially leading Donaldson’s timber and merchanting businesses, Scott is described as having transformed the Group’s enterprises into market leaders within their categories. During his tenure as Group CEO, the Donaldson Group doubled its turnover to over £230m annualised, whilst positively transforming the Group’s profitability.

Serving a diverse customer base including joiners, housebuilders, contractors and also a “favoured supplier” of large-scale infrastructure projects, National Timber Group (NTG) is one of the UK’s leading, independent, added-value timber processing and distribution groups. Created through the acquisitions of brands including Thornbridge, NYTimber, Rembrand Timber, Orchard Timber, Hymor Timber, SV Timber, Norclad and Arnold Laver, today the group is run as an integrated firm, operating from 58 sites across the UK and generating annual revenue of over £300m.
