Snows Timber has completed a £500,000 refurbishment of its Mansfield Distribution Centre in a bid to improve efficiencies in the picking and milling of product.
A new high-speed line has been installed in the mill to increase processing capacity and the site has been reconfigured to accommodate more warehousing space and hard standing ground.
Existing office space was demolished to make room for the extension of the existing warehouse. This resulted in an additional 900m2 of space for raw materials as well as secure storage for products after processing in the mill.
The additional hard standing ground has been used to create a better loading area for Snows delivery fleet which ranges from Hiabs to curtain-sided lorries.
Snows Managing Director, Ian Church, said: “I’m delighted with the completion of the latest initiative in our drive towards improved efficiency and service. We were able to maintain business as usual while all the work was completed so service to our loyal and valued customers was uninterrupted.
“It’s been a challenge, but the benefits of this investment are now ready to be enjoyed by our colleagues and customers.”
