Jewson has invested more than £600k in its Largs branch, to both increase stock availability and reduce its carbon footprint.
The renovation has allowed for more space for more products to ensuring greater stock capacity in the branch whilst as part of the upgrade, the depot has been fitted out with new insulation and energy-saving LED lighting and is using air source heat pumps to create a comfortable inside temperature.
These improvements are part of a wider initiative to reduce the carbon footprint of all Jewson branches, with all the technology used in the renovation also available to customers through its Making Better Homes range.
Alan Tombs, Business Unit Director at Jewson, said: “Our location next to the river meant that the branch needed some updates due to everyday wear and tear, but we also saw this as an opportunity to improve our offering. We’re very much a community branch and have forged a strong relationship with local tradespeople and the general public, so we’re delighted that we can continue to offer advice and back that up with even more readily available stock.
“We’re one of around 30 Jewson branches that are being upgraded to become near zero carbon energy, and it’s a great showcase of the latest technology from our Making Better Homes range. We know that sustainability is becoming more important for our customers, so to be able to demonstrate the impact it can have in a real-life scenario, in branch, is invaluable.”
