British-grown timber, often in the shape of carcassing and decking, is already an unseen element in many builders’ merchants’ ranges. Utilising the marketing advantage of British-grown product as a merchant differentiator is demonstrated in a new leaflet for the merchant sector produced by Grown in Britain.
Part of a series of leaflets for different markets, the new merchant guide, ‘Building Business with Wood Grown in Britain’, details the British-grown preference statement adopted by many major contractors looking to extend their supply chains to local merchants.
It also signposts opportunities with the joinery sector, architects and their builder customers. The leaflet additionally outlines the various ‘chain of custody’ options which ensure timber is of British origin, and which result in granting of a licence to use the Grown in Britain campaign logo.
To hear more about the progress of the campaign to promote British timber, Grown in Britain will be addressing the Builders Merchants Federation’s prestigious Timber Forum in Coventry on 22nd June.
Merchants interested in Grown in Britain chain of custody licensing should contact Laura@growninbritain.org. Copies of the leaflet are available direct from Grown in Britain or via the website at www.growninbritain.org
