The 2019 UK Plumber of the Year Competition has been officially launched, returning for its fifth year, with sponsors Wolseley, JT and Bristan also returning.
To promote the competition the organisers have launched Plumbing News TV, a parody plumbing news station which has tracked down previous winners in an action-packed special report.
The competition will again see Wolseley, JT and Bristan come together to recognise the remarkable level of talent from plumbers across the UK and search for the nation’s number one plumber.
The competition’s Official Judging Partner, Watersafe, the online directory and national accreditation body for competent and qualified plumbers in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, will shortlist 15 plumbers from across the UK from the applications submitted by Friday 28 June.
The public will then vote for who they believe deserves to be crowned the winner and the five with the most votes will then go through to the grand final which will be held at Bristan HQ later in the year.
In addition, Plumber of the Year 2019 will also see the introduction of two new incentives run by prize partners Checkatrade and Vendigo Finance:
- Every entrant will be enter into a prize draw to win a 12-month membership with Checkatrade worth over £800
- Vendigo Finance will offer everyone who enters a free Webinar about how a boiler installer grew from 100 to 1000+ boilers a year in 3 years purely because of the benefit of Point of Sale Finance.
After hundreds of strong entrants in 2018, it was Taunton’s Steve Bartin who triumphed, thanks to his unbridled passion for his trade. Speaking of his win, Steve commented: “I’m absolutely delighted to win the honour of calling myself the UK Plumber of the Year. I’ve been in the industry for 23 years and I feel like all those extra hours and dedication have paid off. I’ve had a blast in the competition and I’m really thankful to all the people who voted for me!
“I definitely recommend the competition for all plumbers across the UK to get involved in. The support for and visibility of my business throughout the competition has been fantastic. I pride myself on the service I deliver, so to receive recognition for that is amazing!”

Lots of additional prizes will also be on offer for this year’s winner which will include a £1,000 voucher for Nabis Bathrooms provided by Wolseley. Prizes provided by Vendigo Finance, Proper Job Beer and BigWipes, to name a few, will also be on offer which will include an iPad and AirPods and a trip to Cornwall.
