Yorkshire-based h&b member West Building Supplies has launched its fourth branch, in the market town of Beverley.
West Building Supplies is an independently owned general merchant operating from two sites in Bridlington and one in Scarborough. The family-owned business has been trading successfully for 50 years this year and has excellent relationships with the building trade in its localities and with established supply chain partners.
This fourth branch in the growing town of Beverley is said to make West the only independent option for the trade in the town, with the location described as a perfect addition to the company’s other three branches, both geographically and strategically.
Citing the benefit of the “support, buying deals and allocations from h&b”, West’s Sean Boyd said: “We have been looking for an opportunity to expand into Beverley for some time now – its population profile and location represents a perfect progression for us. We found a great location and the right team so we grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
“With the current situation with supply issues, we have called on our h&b suppliers to help us stock the new branch. Having that relationship with them has been invaluable and all of them have really pulled out all the stops to help us.”
h&b offers independent builders merchants like West Building Supplies top rate deals with the biggest brands in the building industry which make it easier for members to get access to supplies and compete effectively in their area.
h&b is a national merchant buying group with sales approaching £1bn a year through its growing membership of independent builders’ merchants. 110 h&b merchant members with more than 285 branches are trading in partnership with around 280 suppliers with h&b offering its merchant members “a real opportunity to improve profitability and grow market share by being part of the most progressive buying group in the UK”.
