Elliotts geared up for charity bike ride

A group of employees from Elliotts Builders Merchant will ride 550 miles across France this September to raise money for cervical cancer charity, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust.

After months of training, a determined dozen will start their ride on 28th September in Arras and arrive 550 miles later at finishing point, Alsace, on September 30th.

Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust works hard to make cervical cancer a thing of the past through its information awareness campaigns and the support it provides to women, and was voted for as Elliotts’ Charity of the Year by employees.

Rob Music, CEO of Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust, says: “We are delighted that Elliotts has chosen to support us as their Charity of the Year 2017. Every contribution makes a difference and all funds raised will go towards ensuring that Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust can continue to offer vital support to women with cervical cancer, their families and friends. We wish Elliotts all the best for their upcoming ride and we are incredibly thankful for their support.”

The 550 mile ride, known as the Alsace Challenge, has been organised by Challenge Adventure Charities, founded by Elliotts’ own Chairman, Stuart Mason Elliott. The organisation has nominated two charities to receive half of the money raised, with this year’s choices being The British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK, with the other 50% raised by the Elliotts team going to Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust.

Tom Elliott, Managing Director of the builders’ merchant, says: “We have a diverse team of riders taking on the Alsace Challenge this year and we’re delighted to be raising money for Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust. All staff were involved in voting for a company charity and Jo’s Trust was a standout winner.

“Ted Tugwell, our Tools & Fixings Product Manager, is a huge supporter of Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust in memory of his wife. I hope that our efforts go some way in helping the charity achieve their vision of making cervical cancer a thing of the past.”

The merchant has set up a JustGiving page and is aiming to raise £5000, with any donations being greatly received by both the team and charities involved.
