Dave Heeley, an inspirational, fundraising adventurer has been confirmed as the latest speaker for the Builders Merchants Federation’s (BMF) Members’ Day in September, which takes the theme of People, Purpose & Passion.
Few people show more purpose and passion than Dave Heeley, the first and only blind man to complete three of the world’s most grueling physical challenges. In April he conquered the Sahara Desert to complete the Marathon de Sables, a six-day, 156 mile ultra-marathon in one of the world’s most inhospitable climates, reputed to be the toughest foot race on earth. In a previous challenge he cycled from John O’Groats to Lands End in ten days, running a marathon and cycling 75 miles each day and covering over 1000 miles in total. He is also one of only four people ever to have run 7 marathons in 7 days on 7 continents.
“Blind Dave” as he is known to his friends, will share his experience of the importance of teamwork, the power of trusting in your team, and effective communication and how to use it.
BMF Members’ Day takes place on 16th & 17th September at Carden Park Golf Resort & Spa near Chester. The event combines informal networking opportunities, a black-tie Awards Dinner, informative business sessions with thought-provoking guest speakers and the BMF’s AGM.
