For more than 50 years, from its three factories in Melton Mowbray, JELD-WEN has worked with merchant partners nationwide to deliver the latest in quality joinery solutions. Tony Boon, the company’s Merchant Sales Director, reveals more.
The overall JELD-WEN experience has evolved, with an increased sales team and technical support presence across the UK and Ireland, and an enhanced service that will continue into the future and beyond the current industry challenges. This means that merchants can focus with even greater confidence on servicing customers with the best products, in the most efficient way.
As current peak levels of demand and production show no signs of slowing down any time soon, and homeowners hope to complete their renovations and extensions in good time for Christmas, JELD-WEN is committed to providing merchants with confidence and reassurance at this critical time.
With made-to-measure timber windows available from four weeks, and a competitive lead-time of between four to six weeks for made-to-measure staircases and a 100% OTIF rate, builders’ merchants can remain confident about implementing longer-term planning into their purchase patterns to mitigate unabating demand.
Working collaboratively
Ensuring merchants will continue to benefit from the highest level of service, JELD-WEN has amplified investment in its sales and technical teams, broadening access to expertise across the UK. Through an extensive window and staircase training and development programme, which has been extended to Regional Account Managers, the firm has increased its external coverage.
This has allowed sales teams to grow their technical understanding to support customers, further improving the end-user experience and ensuring a quicker turnaround of products.
JELD-WEN’s expert support team is also able to provide collaborative support for merchants as needed, both on- and off-site, to ensure that the product and specification is correct for the end user. Measuring services can be provided with the external merchant sales team or through joint visits with the end user, streamlining the entire supply process and mitigating any room for error.
Measuring made easy
Our made-to-measure timber windows are available through selected builders’ merchants across the UK, and with so many options, colours, styles and sizes available, a free online quote tool has been designed to help find exactly what the customer needs in just three easy steps.
Being a one-stop supplier of windows, doors and stairs can provide great time and cost saving benefits. Whilst on-site measuring up for windows, if stairs are required as part of a project, JELD-WEN teams can simultaneously measure all aspects, including step height, handrail and tread width, stairwell dimensions and headroom clearance. Then, using specific software, designs are created and reviewed to ensure the highest level of accuracy and compliance with relevant building regulations, enabling a comprehensive service every step of the way.
With the knowledge and tools to obtain precise measurements and produce products to exact specifications, customers and merchant partners will have peace of mind that any job will be delivered to the highest standard.
Dedicated Support
JELD-WEN provides merchants with a wide range of tools and materials for use in-branch to display and market our products, with tailored solutions depending on individual requirements. Catalogues, POS and literature are available, and access to online quoting tools for integration into the merchant’s own website can help to generate end user enquiries. These give customers an indicative price for made-to-measure stairs at no cost, after which the team can work in partnership with the branch to finalise quotes and help generate orders.
Looking ahead to when in-person events are once again the norm, the company can be on hand to support merchants with trade days, in addition to providing physical product displays and samples where required. An online resource centre provides easy access to a library of product fitting instructions, data sheets, brochures, certificates and forms, and a catalogue of technical information, CAD drawings, product care and maintenance advice is at your fingertips.
Although the last 18 months have presented challenges for the construction industry, JELD-WEN has used this time to carefully review and re-invest in its operations, products, resources and services with the result that it can now provide even wider support and increased services to our merchant partners and their customers.

“JELD-WEN is helping to meet the demands of market conditions and, to further support builders’ merchants, has invested in sales and technical teams with an expanded training programme which has resulted in offering full UK coverage for staircase measuring, either in person, or digitally for when on-site isn’t convenient.”
