MKM set to open new Luton branch

MKM set to open new Luton branch

Set to officially open at the end of March, MKM’s new branch in Luton will create 18 new jobs and becomes the 143rd depot in its network. The site quickly follows on from branch 142, located at Edinburgh Fort Kinnaird which opened on 9th March.

Billed as being one of the busiest merchanting areas in the region, MKM Branch Development Director Dan Mansfield said that the new Luton branch will reflect the company’s focus on local knowledge, experienced teams and straightforward service.

Dan explained: “Luton has a really strong trade community and a huge amount of building activity, so it’s a brilliant place for a new MKM branch. The team we’ve brought together know the town well and have worked in and around the area for many years. That local experience is important because it helps us shape the branch around what customers need.”

The Luton branch will offer a full range of building materials, alongside dedicated plumbing and heating facilities and kitchens and bathrooms, giving customers access to both structural materials and finishing products in one place. A large warehouse space means timber and key materials will be stored under cover, keeping products dry and ready to use on site.

Officially opening at the end of March, MKM’s new branch in Luton will create 18 new jobs and becomes the 143rd depot in its network.

Dan added: “One of the things that stands out about Luton is the diversity of the community. People from all over the world live and work here and that brings a lot of energy to the town and the local trade. As with every MKM branch, the team are keen to become a key part of the community, supporting local initiatives and building long-term relationships with customers and businesses in the area.

“We’re really looking forward to opening. Good people, good stock and a branch that’s here to help the local trade get the job done.”

The news follows the opening of MKM’s 142nd branch, at Edinburgh Fort Kinnaird, on Monday 9 March 2026 which has created 17 new jobs for local people and continues the company’s strong expansion across the UK in 2026.

The new branch is led by Branch Directors James Douglas and Scott Fowler, two experienced merchants who together bring more than 60 years of experience across kitchens, joinery, timber and building materials. Both live on the outskirts of Edinburgh and say opening an MKM branch in the city is something they are genuinely proud of.

The outlet offers a full range of building materials including joinery and timber, kitchens and bathrooms, landscaping products, plumbing and heating supplies, plasterboard and insulation. An “inspiring kitchen and bathroom showroom” gives customers a chance to see products up close and talk through designs with the team.

Plans are already in place to support local charities including Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity, Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home and The Ridge Foundation, alongside local sponsorships and fundraising activity.

MKM has opened the 142nd branch in its network, located at Edinburgh Fort Kinnaird.
