Following three years of sustained trading growth in the UK, SONAS Bathrooms has reinforced its commitment to the UK market with the opening of a distribution centre based in Redditch, West Midlands scheduled for August 2026.
The new facility will support SONAS’ growing UK customer base, which has expanded since the company entered the market in 2023. This bricks-and-mortar investment represents the next phase in the firm’s “structured expansion into the UK, building on exceptional sales momentum and a compound annual growth rate of 125% across its first three years in the UK.” This follows forty years of success in Ireland, contributing to an annual turnover of £50 million per year.
Opening in Summer 2026, the UK distribution centre will become the central base for SONAS’ UK distribution operations, providing a hub from which the company can coordinate packaging and deliveries. The facility aims to improve supply reliability and shorten its delivery time to 24 hours for over 500 existing UK retail partners.
Richard Sloan, Chief Executive Officer of SONAS Bathrooms in Ireland and the UK, said: “The opening of our UK distribution centre reflects the strength of our UK expansion which has taken place over the past three years. Our growth in the UK has been sustained and consistent, and this investment ensures our infrastructure keeps pace with demand.
“In Ireland, our customers rely on next day delivery supported by a 98% On Time in Full (OTIF) rate. That level of operational discipline is central to how we do business. The Midlands facility allows us to apply the same proven model in the UK, giving our retail partners greater certainty around stock availability and service performance.”
The facility spans 60,801 sq. ft and is described as a “high‑specification industrial warehouse” located in Redditch, a well‑established industrial area in the West Midlands. This new site will have the capability to hold a significant amount of stock dedicated to its expanding UK customer base, strengthening the company’s ability to support retailers, merchants and installers with reliable stock availability.
Furthermore, with its prime location in the UK’s Golden Logistics Triangle, the new centre will enable SONAS to reach any area of the UK within four hours, supporting its customer commitment to provide 24-hour delivery.
To ensure the success of the facility, SONAS reports that it has invested in “industry-leading warehouse technology, designed to replicate the proven operational model that underpins SONAS’ Irish business.” This includes an advanced Warehouse Management System with integrated voice-picking technology, currently operational in its Irish distribution centre. The system enables it to achieve 99.9% accuracy for packaging deliveries and supporting reliable service for its customers during this next phase of its growth.
Sustainability is also said to be a fundamental part of its existing operations, and this approach will be replicated throughout its UK infrastructure. The new distribution centre possesses a BREEAM Excellent certification, an EPC A rating, and employs sustainable energy solutions, including solar power and smart climate control, allowing SONAS to uphold its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
To prepare for this expansion, in 2025, SONAS appointed Dean Stokes as UK Sales Director to lead the growing UK Sales team, now structured across eight regional UK territories spanning England, Scotland and Wales. With the opening of this new distribution centre, the business will also create up to ten operational jobs, bringing the total of new UK jobs created to twenty.
The UK distribution centre builds on its existing infrastructure in Ireland, comprised of a state-of-the-art 135,000 sq. ft. distribution centre in Dublin and 5,000 sq. ft national showroom.
Across Ireland and the UK, the firm employs more than 110 people across sales, logistics, technical and support functions to supply a wide network of retail and trade partners, plumbers’ merchants and builders’ merchants. With this investment in the Midlands, SONAS states that it is “reinforcing its commitment to structured growth, operational consistency and long-term partnership with retailers and trade customers.”
