Border to offer merchant trading website

Border has recently announced that it will now be offering its full range of e-commerce services to non-CounterAct clients wanting an e-commerce platform to diversify and increase their sales.

So instead of just providing this service to its existing customer base, Border can now develop trading websites for all merchants.

Border has been working with merchants for more than 20 years and has been developing web trading sites for the last two years. Border feels that its knowledge and experience of the unique requirements that merchants have make them well placed to provide trading websites that can help deliver additional revenue that can be managed and maintained by the merchant.

Border utilise the Magento trading platform. Magento is a highly functional open source trading platform used by some of the largest on-line retailers around the world. Magento provides a stable and scalable platform for companies to build their on-line business. With a huge development community, there is a massive library of extensions that add functionality where needed without the need for lots of extra and expensive development time.

This means that Border can tailor a trading site to look unique whilst still offering the powerful web functionality users expect. Border will work with the merchant to identify their requirements, develop and design a theme for the site and discuss the functionality required.

A recent client, who has developed e-commerce in partnership with Border, is Manningham Concrete (Fencing & Decking). Michael Tomlinson, Manager for Manningham, stated: “The new e-commerce platform has been a great journey for us as a company and we are still only getting started. We couldn’t have begun this long overdue project anywhere near to the standard we have without the support from Border who have listened to our ideas and helped us throughout the process. As we continue to grow our online presence they have continued to support us with advice in many areas from online marketing to site functionality, all of which has culminated in significant benefits for our business.”

Phil Davies, Commercial Manager at Border, added: “We think that web trading provides a real opportunity for independent merchants to grow and develop their business. Trading on-line doesn’t necessarily have to be all about price. If you can find the right niche then there is money to be made. Web trading isn’t necessarily national or international either — it can open up local markets or be a toe in the water by virtual branch targeting a particular location before setting up an actual physical branch. Any project like this needs to be thought through and planned and we can help with the process. So if you are interested in trading online, please speak to us.”
