National Buying Group (NBG) member AWBS has been awarded founder members status of the new Earned Recognition Scheme.
The government’s programme is said to recognise companies who have a proven track record in compliance and adherence to transport, driver and vehicle standards.
Operated by the government’s Driver Vehicle Standard Agency, the scheme was launched in April with a special event to award Founder Member Status to 60 companies across all sectors that have demonstrated commitment to the highest standards in transport operations.
DVSA Earned Recognition is a new way for organisations with lorries, buses and coaches to prove they meet driver and vehicle standards. By regularly sharing performance information with DVSA, member companies demonstrate a culture of compliance and in return, can benefit from a reduced burden of enforcement.
Oxfordshire’s AWBS was announced as the only builders’ merchant to be honoured by the scheme in this way.
AWBS is a landscaping and builders’ merchants, which offers a range of building supplies and landscaping supplies from three branches in Swindon, Yarnton and Oxford. Each branch has a full landscaping display showcasing a range of landscaping and building products, including paving, fencing, timber, construction aggregates, sand, chippings, turf and artificial grass.
AWBS’s, Wyatt Tait, commented: “Our transport fleet, drivers and delivery service are a key part of our customer service offering so we take compliance, safety and environmental issues very seriously. We are delighted to be recognised as founder members of this scheme, demonstrating that AWBS is amongst the cream of HGV vehicle operators.”
