Chandlers recognises staff with new awards

Chandlers Building Supplies was recently delighted to present Halesowen Timber Sales Co-ordinator Sam Lock with its first Outstanding Contribution Award and Brighton branch Timber Distribution Driver Premysl Vik with its Best New Starter Award.

Sam joined Chandlers in January 2015 and quickly immersed herself into the business. Despite taking on a role in what is deemed to be a ‘man’s world’, her courteous and respectful manner helped her quickly establish herself as a friendly and helpful Timber Sales Co-ordinator with existing customers. In the nomination it was noted how she is often heard politely challenging other staff about yard housekeeping and how she has been instrumental in making many improvements at the branch.

Regardless of having only been a Chandlers HGV driver since January 2016, the pivotal role Premysl plays in ensuring the Brighton branch’s distribution service is a success was noted in his nomination. Through his job, he delivers to all Chandlers branches. This sometimes means a 3am start to ensure he reaches the Midlands’ depots on time and his extremely positive and flexible attitude was recognised by the judges.

Chandlers introduced both awards last year and nominations were received from across the merchant’s 13 branches. Sam and Premysl were chosen as the winners of the awards by a panel of judges made up of Managing Director Andrew Cope, Director Danny Spokes and HR Manager Christine Pitts.

Andrew Cope commented: “Our fantastic team is a major part of Chandlers’ continued success and I’m delighted we introduced a scheme to acknowledge individual staff who are great ambassadors for the company, have a strong team spirit and who are prepared to go above and beyond. All the nominees were extremely worthy and it was very pleasing to read the individual nominations. Congratulations to Sam and Premysl for their thoroughly deserved awards.”

Sam Lock and Premysl Vik were each presented with a certificate and a £500 cheque.
