Four new Freemen were admitted to the Worshipful Company of Builders’ Merchants at a recent ceremony, taking the total number of Liverymen and Freemen to 263.
The new Freemen – Andrew Griffiths of Boys & Boden, Andrew McLellan of JW Grant, David Pattison of Robert Price and Owen Thorogood of PPW – were admitted as part of a special ceremony at Cutlers’ Hall on 2 July 2026.
Master Lucia Di Stazio commented: “It is a real pleasure to welcome new Freemen to the Livery and I congratulate them all. WCoBM represents key figures from across the building materials sector and our growing membership contributes greatly towards supporting the work of our Company, which includes philanthropy, investing in future talent and making a positive difference through our charitable donations.”
WCoBM is a modern Livery Company. Founded in 1961, it represents all parts of the builders’ merchant and building materials industry and works to raise the profile of builders’ merchants in the City, highlighting their importance in supplying Britain’s building needs.
Members include leading figures within builders’ merchants, manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, buying groups, service suppliers and a number of ancillary trades. Membership is by invitation only and is a measure of an individual’s contribution to the industry.
