This year’s Jewson Live, taking place on Thursday 15th December, will focus on one of the biggest issues facing the construction industry – the mental health crisis.
The popular event at Birmingham’s NEC will provide a safe space for tradespeople to open up about their mental wellbeing, hear expert advice and get additional support should they need it. Key speaker sessions at the event include Behind the Line, where legendary boxer Frank Bruno will discuss his mental health struggles whilst a second session on the day will see Frank join fellow sporting star James Wade, and the Band of Builders’ wellbeing lead Peter Cape in a Screw the Silence Q&A.
Melanoma UK will also be running a pop-up skin check clinic at the event, to offer advice and answer any questions around the dangers that tradespeople face when working long hours outside.
Alongside these sessions, a key feature at the event will be the Builders Talk café, offering a hub of support and encouraging attendees to open up and chat with fellow trades while grabbing a brew. Here, visitors will find vital resources that offer helpful tips as well as directing them to organisations that can offer additional support. There will also be a private, enclosed space next to the café where people can immediately access professional help.
