Klober has reconfirmed its commitment to training both contractors and merchants throughout 2019 with a series of training days at its Castle Donington site.
The training days will cover roof ventilation theory while also allowing plenty of time for practical experience in fitting products on the company’s training rigs. Up-to-date changes in Standards and regulations will also be covered.
A typical course will include an overview of roofing ventilation requirements; condensation problems and ventilation solutions; and it also covers working with dry-fix roofing; battens and interlocking tiles on gable roofs; universal roof vents; eaves ventilation; Permo air and Sepa light underlays and practical fixing.
The courses are free-of-charge and include a buffet lunch and refreshments. The company can also offer flexible dates and deliver on-site and in-house training sessions by arrangement.
Strong product knowledge and a commitment to best practice are key to business development both for contractors and merchants and are even more important today as the sector tries to address skills shortages in construction. These shortages – whether manufacturer, contractor or distributor – have never been more pressing and in roofing, the problem is particularly acute. For example, research from the Federation of Master Builders shows that 46% of small to medium enterprises are struggling to find roofing recruits.
The training programme is a part of a wider strategy to help upskill the industry, which has seen Klober also sponsoring and supporting SkillBuild, the competition that the Construction Industry Training Board holds annually for building trades apprentices attending college. The company has supplied materials for competitors to install on the competition rigs for the finals and the Roof Slating and Tiling heats in the Regional Qualifiers that precede them. Klober technical staff were also on hand to lend support.
The 2019 training dates can be viewed here, and the next available will be 11 June.
