The Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) celebrates the start of the new financial year with another high profile supplier member, following the announcement that Makita, the foremost manufacturer of power tools in the world, will join the Federation on April 1st.
Makita has operated in the UK for over 40 years and has distribution centres throughout the country. It is also Britain’s number one professional power tool manufacturer, with its Telford manufacturing plant producing many of the company’s top line cordless power tools, including the MXT Combi Drill, one of the company’s best selling products. In total, Makita offers over 500 power tool products and over 4,000 accessories including cordless drills/drivers; cordless combination drills; percussion drills; angle grinders; jigsaws and sanders, as well as a substantial amount of outdoor power equipment.
Said Barry Smart, National Sales Manager, Makita (UK) Ltd: “Makita has a close relationship with builders merchants and their customers; our power tools are an essential part of every tradesman’s kit. We are looking forward to playing a full part in the BMF, the leading trade body for the building supply chain.”
Said John Newcomb, BMF MD: “I’m delighted to welcome Makita to the BMF. Our aim is to represent the interests of every merchant and supplier to the merchanting industry. Companies such as Makita, that supply equipment for use by the building trade are as much a part of the supply chain as those manufacturing materials for use in construction, and I am looking forward to working with them.”
