Marathon achievement for ForgeFix team in campaign to ‘Screw Prostate Cancer’

Two runners from ForgeFix have successfully completed their challenge to run four marathons, in four countries of the UK, all in support of the company’s campaign to ‘Screw Prostate Cancer’.

Most recently, Nick Marshall and George Strong completed the Edinburgh marathon, having run races in Belfast, London and Newport over the last five weeks, as part of ForgeFix’s efforts to raise £100,000 and get 100,000 men to use the online risk checker, in partnership with Prostate Cancer UK.

In each marathon, the leading distributor of fixings and fasteners’ duo of runners wore a specially designed Screw Prostate Cancer suit – in the shape and style of a screw – with the additional aim of completing at least one of these challenges in a world record breaking time…for a participant dressed as a tool. The team are hopeful that moment came in Belfast and are now liaising with officials on the Guinness World Records team for confirmation of their success.

George Strong said: “The Screw Prostate Cancer challenge has been one of the hardest things I have undertaken, however, the support from everyone has been overwhelming. Nick and I have become great friends undertaking the challenge together. Ultimately, if we are able to raise some money, increase exposure, and even save one life, all the pain and suffering will be worth it. I am honoured to be a small part of this initiative.”

Due to the popularity and success the Screw Prostate Cancer runners have enjoyed to date, Nick and George have now been offered two highly coveted places for the Dublin Marathon on 25th October – extending their fundraising efforts into Autumn.

The Screw Prostate Cancer campaign has received industry-wide backing, with leading institutions such as the NBG, H&B and IBC buying groups, along with the BMF and NMBS, all supporting the campaign.

For every single sale of its Spectre ‘Screw Prostate Cancer’ cases ForgeFix will donate £2 to Prostate Cancer UK, and in addition the company is also donating 1% of all sales from its entire Spectre screw range through 2026.

There is increasing awareness of the importance of testing for prostate cancer – and growing calls for a nationwide screening programme – and ForgeFix is in a key position to support Prostate UK by targeting the male-dominated construction sector.
