M&M Timber is investing in the industry’s future with the appointment of a new apprentice, as part of the Nova Training Vocational Skills apprenticeship scheme.
19 year old Connor Payton from Bewdley is delighted to be joining the company after studying a BTEC Level 3 in Public Services at Worcester Sixth Form College.
Connor joins the company on an 18-month apprenticeship scheme as Sales Assistant where he will progress his customer service skills, timber merchanting understanding and develop fundamental business acumen.
As part of Nova Training, the apprenticeship looks to advance key vocational skills and leads to a MVQ Level 2 certification in sales which addresses a broad range of skill areas to succeed in business. This includes selling, face to face, by phone and at events, processing of sales orders, lead generation and sales data analysis to identify trends, opportunities and to run reports.
During its 25 years in business, Nova has operated many youth and adult training programmes and delivered employer led programmes and qualifications such as NVQ’s and Apprenticeships.
Jeff James, Nova Training, commented: “Our vision at Nova is to place apprentices, who are eager to learn and develop, at the heart of activity to enhance their skills set, employability and confidence in their chosen profession area.
“The huge benefit of an apprenticeship such as this is that it provides the individual with important workplace experience and enables them to work with colleagues to see the business operate in a ‘real environment’ – there really is no better way to learn than on the job!”
Fraser Hall, M&M Timber, concludes: “As a business we’re thrilled to welcome Connor to our team and thoroughly support his apprenticeship. We feel this is an excellent opportunity for Connor to gain vital sales knowledge, bringing theory and practice together. The timber sector is a dynamic industry to be part of and we’re confident Connor will be a valuable asset to our team as he develops his sales career.”
