H&B Buying Group member Longwater Construction Supplies has announced the opening of an impressive new branch in Marks Tey, near Colchester, extending the company’s reach into Essex.
Longwater Construction Supplies says the expansion has been facilitated with the assistance and collaboration of the Buying Group’s deals, and support from its supplier cohort. Established in 2008, the business is “truly an independent builders’ merchant”, offering a wide range of construction materials to a diverse customer-base and servicing customers throughout East Anglia from its headquarters in Norwich along with branches in Attleborough, Newmarket, Sleaford and now Colchester.
The new branch, located prominently on the A12 trunk road, is a strategic addition to the company’s network, extending its scope towards London and throughout Essex. The depot boasts a spacious yard and “customer parking facilities that would be the envy of many merchants” in addition to a well laid out trade counter and shop, plus an impressive hard landscaping display area that has already proved very successful since the soft launch in early August.
The official opening, marked by a well-supported trade week, will take place 18-22 September 2023.
MD and owner Neil Carter said: “Expansion of the builders’ merchant side of the business into Essex has been on our radar for a while. We have been delivering from our depots in Norwich and Newmarket into Essex for a while, servicing our existing customer base.
“The site at Marks Tey strategic location next to the A12 makes it an ideal fit for our growth plans and securing new business in Essex and North London. The help from the H&B supplier base has been key to the new branch’s opening, through its access to competitive deals and supplier support when opening new locations.”
The H&B Buying Group boasts sales close to £1bn annually, through its collaboration with around 280 suppliers and with its network of 110 merchant members running more than 285 branches.
