Grant UK’s Training Academy in Devizes has reconfigured part of it’s facilities onsite to allow for the development of a new training area which will be used for the delivery of online training courses via the Grant eLearning Academy.
The Training Academy at Grant UK’s head offices in Devizes, Wiltshire, has been established for almost two decades and during that time, the premises have been adapted to meet the ever-changing training requirements of heating engineers. Starting out providing oil boiler training and OFTEC qualification and assessments, the Academy later expanded to offer a comprehensive selection of courses on renewable heating systems. Today, air source heat pump courses are the most popular with over 700 installers and heating engineers completing heat pump training through the Academy within the last two years.
Last summer, Grant UK’s training support entered a new era with the launch of the eLearning Academy. Through the Grant eLearning Academy, a range of free courses, as well as on-demand and instructor-led courses, are available for installers and heating engineers to access remotely, from the comfort of their home or offices. Interest and demand for online training has significantly increased due to a combination of restrictions during the pandemic and increasing time pressures on installers who may be unable to travel to training centres. To meet this demand and to enable Grant UK’s Training Team to schedule and deliver more instructor-led online training, the facilities in Devizes have been adapted once again.
In February, work got underway to reconfigure one of the Training Rooms at the Academy. The result of this work is the formation of a new separate training room which provides space for Grant UK’s Trainers to host online training. The instructor-led air source heat pump courses have been very popular so the creation of this new facility will allow for more of these online, tutor-led courses to be held via the eLearning Academy.
Alongside the installer training delivered through Grant UK’s Training Academy, tailored training for merchants is also available. Practical product training on the Aerona³ air source heat pumps and Grant’s other renewable ranges is available to merchant staff and this can be arranged upon request to a local Sales Representative. Furthermore, online product training is also available via the Grant eLearning Academy where merchants can sign up for free using the enrolment key GMERCH1120.
“The ways in which engineers and installers want to receive product training has significantly changed over the years,” comments Phil Stanley, Grant UK’s Training Manager. “Face-to-face training remains the preferred method favoured by installers but the past twelve months have made us adapt and through the Grant eLearning Academy, we have been able to continue providing quality training to heating engineers throughout the country. This latest development at our premises in Devizes has made better use of the space we have and will help us increase our online course capacity.”
