The Rainy Day Trust has received £3,000 to fund its Builders Merchant Apprenticeship Support Programme for young people in Bristol.
The donation was provided by the Santander Foundation, which offers Discovery Grants to UK registered charities for projects that help disadvantaged people in local communities.
The Rainy Day Trust has been providing invaluable financial help to people from the home improvement industry since 1843. The grant will be targeted specifically at merchant apprentices and aims to improve access to IT, giving them a better chance of completing their course as they work towards GCSEs in Maths and English.
Bryan Clover, CEO at the Rainy Day Trust said: ‘By giving apprentices their own laptops, printers and software, we hope to improve pass rates, giving young apprentices a better start in life. Learning a skill is so important, and we want to be there with them as they learn.’
Amy Slack, Manager at the Santander Foundation added: “The Santander Foundation makes hundreds of donations every year to good causes throughout the UK. Our branch is committed to playing a key part in the community and we are delighted to be supporting the Rainy Day Trust and hope the donation makes a real difference to local people.”
