Lampard Community School in Barnstaple is the latest winner of RGB Building Supplies’ Well Built Community Fund following a public vote.
Up against two other schools that support young people with additional needs based in Dartington and Taunton, Lampard Community School came out on top of the vote and now has £1,000 to spend at RGB’s Barnstaple branch. Just over 2,700 votes were received in total.
The building materials will be used to transform an outdoor area that is used by the youngest pupils at the school who have a range of complex learning difficulties. At the moment the area becomes boggy in the winter and, as there is no shelter, is too hot to use in the summer months which has an impact on the amount of time children can spend outside and the activities they can take part in.
Dawn Baker, Otters Class Teacher and who submitted the nomination, commented: “We are so excited to have this money to spend. It will be wonderful to have an outside area that the children can use all year round.”
Lee Kift, Branch Manager at RGB Barnstaple, added: “The support that Lampard Community School received from our customers and the local community was fantastic and we’re delighted to be able to help Otters Class enjoy their outdoor area. I look forward to returning to see the new garden.”
