As the country continues to move towards its ‘new normal,’ Selco Builders Warehouse has completed the programme of reopening its entire branch network and online services.
The final three branches in St Albans, Orpington and Mitcham reopened their doors to tradespeople recently, meaning all 68 branches – as well as Click & Collect and Click & Deliver – are now open and fully available in line with social distancing guidelines.
Selco responded to the coronavirus crisis by shutting down its entire offering on March 23 to help ensure the safety of colleagues and customers, before beginning a phased re-opening on May 4.
More than half the branches initially reopened offering Click & Collect and Click & Deliver only before the gradual process of opening the doors to each branch began.
Chief Executive Howard Luft said: “We are delighted to now have our full offering available and are working incredibly hard to provide the best possible service to our customers.
“It has been an incredibly challenging period but – thanks to an entire team effort – we have managed to reopen fully, safely and effectively over a measured six-week period.
“Everyone has contributed to make this possible, whether it be the commitment of our colleagues, the loyalty of our customers or the support of our suppliers, and I’d like to thank everyone for their understanding and patience.
“The health and safety of customers, colleagues and suppliers is always our top priority and will continue to be so.”
Amongst the measures Selco has taken during the coronavirus crisis are 2m social distancing markers in place throughout all branches, protective screening around tills and trade counters, strict cleaning, handwashing and hygiene procedures and limitations on the number of people in branch.
Howard added: “We are aware of the crucial roles our customers perform in their local communities, carrying out vital repairs and maintenance, and we are here to support them every step of the way.”
