Bryan Clover, CEO of the Rainy Day Trust, has issued a statement calling for businesses to donate a portion of what is usually spent on Christmas parties to support good causes.
“Sadly, a lot of work Christmas Parties will be cancelled this year and have either been shelved as an idea or been replaced with Zoom events. To aid our much-needed fundraising at the Rainy Day Trust, we’re asking businesses to be Christmas Charity Champions and donate a proportion of what they would usually spend on a Christmas party, or run a mini event on their Zoom parties for the Rainy Day Trust instead, so we can keep providing the vital help that people need. Covid-19 has affected our sector enormously and we need every penny to keep our support programmes running.
“We are also running a Christmas Jumper Day this 11th December where staff wear a festive jumper and make a donation to the Rainy Day Trust. If you’d like to take part, please let email bryan@rainydaytrust.org.uk.
“We know that we keep asking, but people need help every day and this Christmas is going to be unpleasant for an awful lot of people.
“If you can help us, please make a donation to our VMG page: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/RDTXmas2020″
