Wavin creates dedicated development team to support merchants

Wavin has launched a new field-based, specialist branch development team to support merchants nationwide.

The investment in the team is driven by an “ongoing commitment to supporting builders’ merchants and the wider construction industry” and has been established to ensure Wavin “remains attuned to the unique challenges merchants face in the dynamic construction landscape.”

The team will comprise 13 business development experts and cover regions across the breadth of the UK and they will assist large merchants like Jewson as well as smaller, independent businesses. The support offered will include POS training and product assistance across Wavin’s portfolio – including its Hep2O, OSMA and Hepworth Clay ranges. The team will also deliver trade events at branches and help with remerchandising.

Wavin’s support for builders’ merchants is said to embody a partnership beyond the mere supply of products. By actively collaborating on marketing campaigns, promotional events and education initiatives, the manufacturer aims to bolster the success of its merchant partners, “helping them thrive in an ever-evolving market and contribute to the broader success of the construction sector.”

Dan Scott, Vice President of Northern Europe at Wavin, explained: “With a rich history with merchant partners dating back decades, Wavin has consistently prioritised collaboration with partners to elevate the standards of construction materials and solutions on offer.

“Our deep understanding of the sector enables us to tailor our support through customised product offerings, efficient logistics, and comprehensive training programmes. Coupled with our single source of supply – merchants can be confident that all their plumbing and drainage needs are catered for through a dedicated team.”

As a leading contributor to the built environment, Wavin has also emphasised how it is “poised to support the industry through significant changes,” including the implementation of Schedule 3 and the road to net zero.

Dan continued: “Sustainability is a cornerstone of Wavin’s approach, and this commitment extends to our support for builders’ merchants. By promoting environmentally-friendly solutions, we empower merchants to align with the growing demand for sustainable construction practices. This enhances the merchant’s product portfolios and positions them as responsible contributors to the industry.”
