Mid-May saw the Christchurch branch of Elliotts builders merchants taking its first delivery of products from YBS Insulation, expanding the chain’s offering to its many thousands of customers, including housebuilders and specialist contractors.
Founded back in 1840 by Thomas Elliott, the successful family business now operates a string of outlets across the counties of Hampshire and Dorset from its headquarters on Millbank Street, in the Northam district of Southampton. Underlining the importance of the addition to its portfolio, Chris Brierley from Elliotts’ Premier Roofing took time out to meet the Area Sales Manager for YBS, Guy Fee, as the delivery vehicle arrived at the branch.
The new products on offer to Elliotts’ Christchurch customers will be YBS SuperQuilt and BreatherQuilt, both of which provide very good value for money and dependable performance. In addition to conserving energy and protecting the fabric of the building against moisture problems, they are also easy to install while taking up minimal space.
Speaking about the new relationship with YBS, Elliotts’ Chris Brierley commented: “As a specialist roofing supply business we put a lot of effort into ensuring we offer the best possible selection of solutions to customers and the YBS products definitely deliver a lot of benefits. Our staff will receive product training on the range from Guy Fee, while we are in the process of producing an information sheet to distribute to our customers.”
“A product like SuperQuilt not only helps reduce the thickness of roof and wall construction, but also saves space in the branch compared to other insulation materials. We expect SuperQuilt and the Breather Quilt to be very popular.”
Other branches of Elliotts include Bishops Waltham, Chandlers Ford, Fordingbridge, Fareham, Portsmouth and Totton. Over the coming weeks, all are expected to be adding the high performance YBS insulation materials to their shelves, while the product training from Guy Fee will ensure Elliotts’ customers are given accurate advice on the appropriate applications.
Recognised by the NHBC, BBA and compliant with Part L of the Building Regulations, SuperQuilt comprises 19 layers including reflective foil, expanded polyethylene and polyester wadding to provide a cost effective and user-friendly alternative to much thicker insulation materials. Installed with a 25mm cavity it controls not just radiated energy, but thermal conduction and convection. It is said to create an effective vapour control layer and will also combat thermal overheating in the summer months.
YBS BreatherQuilt, meanwhile, is a BBA certified pitched roof insulation material approved by the NHBC and LABC for use in new-build and refurbishment applications. Lightweight and thin, it is the equivalent of 65mm of mineral wool insulation, while also providing a breathable underlayment.
