Get switched on to Lot 20, says Glen Dimplex

Glen Dimplex Heating & Ventilation has launched a dedicated new website on the upcoming Lot 20 regulations, designed to help merchants, wholesalers and others in the trade get to grips with how the new standard will affect electrical heating appliances.

Reflecting the Company’s commitment to helping the industry understand and adapt to the latest changes in regulation, www.lot20.co.uk is said to be the ultimate information hub for the trade, providing up to date information on the incoming legislation – set to be the biggest shakeup of electric heating in decades.

From January 2018, all local space heaters manufactured for sale into the EU must comply with a minimum efficiency standard under Lot 20 of the Energy Efficiency Directive – a measure aimed at phasing out inefficient technologies and reducing the energy used in homes.

It means that all local space heaters using electricity, gaseous or liquid fuels must comply with a minimum efficiency standard. This includes electric panels, radiators, storage heaters and electric fires.

With a sleek design and easy to navigate format, the new Lot 20 site is packed with useful information, making it an essential tool for anyone looking for clarity and sound advice, says the manufacturer.

The website provides comprehensive guidelines on how Lot 20 will affect popular electrical heating appliances including storage heaters, direct acting heaters, portable heaters, radiant heaters and electric fires. The site also will explain how the legislation is set to affect individual customer types and provides an online product efficiency calculator tool.

Another feature of the Lot 20 website is a series of frequently asked questions, plus useful hints and tips on how installers can optimise Lot 20-compliant products that come with new, algorithm-driven smart features. The new features, which present myriad opportunities in electric heating, will include more advanced controls such as electronic room temperature control with seven-day timer, open window detection, distance control via an app, and even adaptive start control to suit the individual requirements of the user.

Christian Hadley, Head of Product Marketing, Glen Dimplex Heating & Ventilation said: “With Lot 20 set to come into force imminently, now is a crucial time for the trade to get up to date on what this game-changing new regulation means for electrical heating appliances, many of which have been redesigned with smart new features to meet the new regulations.

“As such, we hope our dedicated Lot 20 website will prove to be an essential resource in the coming months as the industry adjusts to tighter efficiency standards that are set to drive the biggest change in electric heating for decades.”

The entire Glen Dimplex Heating & Ventilation product portfolio will be redesigned to meet the new regulations, unless already compliant.
