NMBS Conference postponed

NMBS Conference postponed

As a consequence of the Coronavirus outbreak, NMBS has confirmed that this year’s merchant sector All Industry Conference has been called off.

The event had been set to take place from 18–21 June at the Hilton Sorrento Palace Hotel on the Amalfi Coast, overlooking the Bay of Naples in Southern Italy. With the ongoing situation surrounding the spread of Coronavirus in Italy and the UK, a message to delegates from NMBS states that it has followed guidance issued by the UK and Italian authorities, and has been working very closely with both First Event and the hotel with regards to how it moves forward.

Based on the guidance and feedback it has received, NMBS has made the decision to postpone the event “for the safety of all involved”.

However, the NMBS statement continued: “Although the event will not be going ahead this year, we are delighted to announce that we have agreed with the Hotel that the event will be rescheduled for 16-19 June 2022.”

Managing Director Chris Hayward added: “By committing our booking to 2022 it shows our support for this great location and country which is going through a very tough time at the moment as many other countries are. However when we all emerge from this current situation, we are as confident as we were when we first booked Sorrento that it is a great place to host the NMBS All Industry Conference.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and understanding during this time.”

NMBS will be offering refunds for all bookings – including any extras such as additional nights, upgrades or activities – and says that delegates will receive further communication within the next seven days, detailing their booking for the event and how a refund will be processed or to transfer the booking to the 2022 event. This refers to the ground package only and NMBS notes that any changes to booked flights will need to be taken up directly with the airline.
