Jewson backs campaign to help Midlands recovery move up a gear

Jewson is supporting the Let’s Get The Midlands Moving campaign, a new initiative designed to support Midlands people and businesses as they emerge from the pandemic.

As a key campaign partner, the M6toll will help Midlands workers and businesses including small and larger construction companies from July and throughout August, by halving the cost of many local journeys for all vehicle types exiting at local plaza junctions.

The M6toll will also assist in getting more goods and materials moving around the UK by halving the cost for freight and haulage companies using the road end-to-end.

With the West Midlands and its economy hit hard by the Coronavirus pandemic, the Let’s Get The Midlands Moving campaign is designed to get the region moving again by restoring business confidence and getting people back into their established work routines.

The Let’s Get The Midlands Moving initiative is being supported by Jewson, a leading chain of builders merchants with over 525 branches across the UK.

Chris Kertland, Jewson Business Unit Director, said: “During the pandemic we’ve sought to do all we can to support our customers and the wider construction industry by working hard to ensure they get the materials and supplies they need, in a safe way, to allow them to continue to work.

“Being part of the Let’s Get The Midlands Moving campaign is another way to show that ongoing support to customers.

“This campaign will help towards getting tradespeople back on their feet, allowing them to move between jobs quicker and more efficiently and with the added benefit of doing so with 50% off their M6toll journey.

“As the focus shifts to how the country recovers, it is critical we work together to support our local communities and get people back on track and the Let’s Get The Midlands Moving campaign can play a crucial role in achieving this.”

As the industry emerges from lockdown, Jewson has launched various measures to assist their customers. This includes a new website where customers are able to view their personalised pricing and benefit from click & collect and click & deliver services and launching Toolkit Talks, a series of online webinars hosted in partnership with industry experts to help get customers back on the tools.

As well as Jewson backing the campaign, customers are also supporting the initiative. For Tamworth based Vogue Build, the M6toll discounts are welcomed as a timely boost in helping them get back to full operational capacity, as they literally build their way out of lockdown and into recovery.

Andy Pendrey, Vogue Build Director said: “Since things have started to open up again, we are seeing a gradual recovery taking place. Our team is now back up to full strength and we are working through the backlog of jobs that have built up.

“For jobs outside our local area, the M6toll makes a huge difference on the time spent travelling backwards and forwards to a site. It can often save us half an hour or an hour each way and that means we can start earlier and finish later on a job.

“It’s important for everybody get back up and running again. It’s not just our industry but business generally across the region needs to recover as it will have a positive knock-on effect for all of us. The Let’s Get The Midlands Moving campaign is a great idea and we will be backing it all the way.”

Andy Cliffe, M6toll Chief Executive, said: “Midlands’ businesses and their workers are the lifeforce of the region, never standing still as they drive our economy forward.

“And neither have we, with the M6toll built to keep the Midlands moving by saving drivers and businesses time spent in congestion, as well as remove traffic that would also be causing further build ups on local roads.

“As we emerge from the pandemic, the M6toll is wholly committed to playing an active part in getting more goods and materials moving around the UK, so we will be halving the cost for freight and haulage companies using the road end-to-end.

“The 50% discount is a pivotal element of the Let’s Get The Midlands Moving campaign.

It will enable businesses and workers to quickly and reliably cut through the increasing congestion returning to the Midlands’ roads and in doing so help drive the region’s recovery.”
