SIG Roofing has announced its new partnership with Band of Builders, a charity that provides practical, financial, and well-being support for members of the UK construction industry.
Chris Lodge, the specialist roofing merchant’s MD, said: “At SIG Roofing, we’re proud of our deep roots in local roofing communities and, with our national reach, we’re always looking for ways to make a positive difference and support important causes. When we heard about Band of Builders and their mission, we immediately felt a strong connection.
“Seeing firsthand the amazing work they do to support construction workers and their families in times of need, whether it’s illness, injury, or other life-changing events, really struck a chord with us. Their efforts align with our values, helping not just our customers but also our colleagues.”
Chris added: “We’re also inspired by the Band of Builders work to promote mental health awareness and support in the construction industry and can’t wait to help spread the word about all the incredible things they’re doing. That’s why we’ve proudly partnered with Band of Builders and committed to their Gold Support Package. We’re passionate to support them in lots of ways, like donating materials for renovations and getting our colleagues and customers involved in future projects.
“We’re also excited to host this year’s Big Brew event across our branches nationwide. This important annual event helps raise essential funds and awareness for the Band of Builders’ initiatives.”
The business has confirmed that its first initiative with Band of Builders will be providing products for an imminent project for a Bellshill Roofer who suffered a broken back in an 8m fall from scaffolding. Jim Gallacher fell and landed on an Armco barrier in a freak accident on a project at a retail park in Bristol.
Although the 53-year-old has surprised medical experts with his recovery, he has been informed that he will never be able to lift anything heavy or work at height. Additionally, any slip or trip could potentially leave him in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
Due to these circumstances, Jim has unfortunately lost his business and is unable to complete the extension he had started at the front of his home. B0B has kindly offered to assist in finishing the extension, and they are reaching out to local tradespeople to participate in the project. The work is scheduled to begin in September, with SIG Roofing providing materials from their nearby branch in Glasgow, just 2 miles away from the site.
A final word from Gavin Crane, CEO of Band of Builders: “We are thrilled that SIG Roofing has chosen to support Band of Builders, and we see great potential in the strategic partnership moving forward. The partnership gives our charity greater visibility and reach to the staff and customers of all of the SIG Roofing brands – meaning we can promote our work to a wider audience. This will hopefully help us increase the size of our volunteer base.
“SIG Roofing is keen to get involved not only by supplying materials for forthcoming projects but also by encouraging staff to visit sites to volunteer on projects.”
