Daikin has opened a new Sustainable Home Centre at the James Hargreaves depot in Bradford, becoming its fourth to be launched in partnership with the leading independent plumbers’ merchant.
Officially opened on Friday, 18th July, this is described as a significant milestone which demonstrates both companies’ commitment to sustainability and low-carbon heating solutions, as the nation gradually transitions from fossil fuels to renewable energy.
The new Sustainable Home Centre is now open to welcome both installers and homeowners in the region. Visitors will have the opportunity to view the heat pumps and innovative technology up close whilst in addition to serving as a showroom, the Centre also functions as a training facility and a stocklist for installers transitioning to renewable energy technologies.
This collective effort marks yet another important step towards a more sustainable HVAC industry, where renewable technology replaces gas boilers and encourages more people to adopt environmentally friendly solutions.
The official launch event on 18th July was open to everyone, including homeowners and trade professionals such as housebuilders, architects and installers. Attendees included Councillor Israr Ahmed and delegates from West Yorkshire Combined Authority: Jessica McNeil, the Head of Home Energy; Sophie Brook, Policy Officer; and Neil Johnson, Programme Lead Net Zero Regional Accelerator, all of whom shared valuable insights into the future of energy efficiency in the region.
Visitors also had the opportunity to participate in informative presentations, engage in Q&A sessions and connect with Daikin specialists.
Gary Beaumont, Sales Director at James Hargreaves, commented: “It’s truly fantastic to see our fourth Sustainable Home Centre opening its doors within a James Hargreaves Plumbing Supplies branch, this time in Bradford. We’re all about building strong relationships and being a trusted partner, and this new Centre really helps us do that, connecting installers and homeowners with top-notch renewable energy solutions.
“We know how important it is for tradespeople to have access to the right products and the training they need to stay ahead, especially as we all move towards more sustainable homes. This Centre makes it simple and straightforward for our installers to develop their heat pump skills and get hands-on with the latest technology. Plus, it gives homeowners a chance to see these environmentally friendly heating solutions up close and understand the benefits for themselves.’’
He added: “We’re confident that this new Centre will be a real asset to the community, helping everyone get the job done right, every time.’’
Iain Bevan, Commercial Manager of Heating & Renewables at Daikin UK, said: “Heat pumps hold immense potential for slashing energy consumption and home bills. Over their 15-year lifespan, transitioning from a fossil fuel boiler to an air source heat pump on a low cost heat pump tariff could yield savings exceeding £6,000 compared to gas boilers, over £7,000 compared to oil, and surpassing £17,000 compared to LPG.
“Our studies reveal that a staggering 68% of homeowners are unaware of the significantly higher energy efficiency of heat pumps over gas boilers. While gas boilers operate at 70-90% efficiency, heat pumps soar between 300-400%. There is an essential need to educate homeowners about heat pump technology, and our Sustainable Home Centres within the James Hargreaves Plumbing Supplies branches offer the ideal platform for such endeavours.’’
