EH Smith has confirmed “a series of measured leadership appointments at Group holdings level,” designed to strengthen its long-term future.
The changes “reflect succession planning rather than structural change” at the family-run builders’ merchant, with the next generation of the family continuing to preserve the continuity, service ethos and family values that have “defined EH Smith for over 100 years.”
Following a review of the EH Smith Holdings Board, John Cave (pictured) has been appointed Group Chief Executive Officer, leading the Group’s long-term strategy and operations. Mark Mallinder becomes Group Development Director, Chloe Cave is appointed as Group People and Culture Director, and Mark Leinster takes on the role of Group Property Director.
Mark Setchell continues to lead the Builders Merchants business as Managing Director while John Parker will continue in his role as Group Chairman.
Group CEO John Cave commented: “These appointments are about shaping the long-term strategy while maintaining the stability our customers, suppliers and colleagues rely on every day. It remains very much business as usual, strengthened by a clear plan for the future that stays true to our company values.”
The changes have been implemented to underline EH Smith’s commitment to “thoughtful succession, sustainable growth and business continuity – ensuring the company remains a stable, trusted, family-owned business for generations to come.”
Reflecting on the changes, Group Chairman John Parker said: “These changes build on the commitment and enthusiasm of the next generation for our family business. I am delighted to see the future in safe hands as we work together in the coming years.”
