Circular pallet recovery scheme The Pallet LOOP is celebrating two years of operation with major milestones achieved.
Since launching in 2024, The Pallet LOOP has issued more than 3 million of its iconic green pallets and collected over 1.8 million of them from construction projects across the UK and Ireland. Through its innovative returnable pallet scheme, the company has already paid an estimated £1.4 million back into the sector.
Working hand-in-hand with the merchant sector, The Pallet LOOP incentivises pallet returns through a simple, cost-effective scheme that pays registered partners £2 to £4 for every pallet returned. Combined with a fast and efficient collection service, the system encourages construction businesses to recycle pallets, reducing waste and improving sustainability in the sector.
The business has partnered with some of the construction industry’s biggest manufacturers, including British Gypsum, Isover, Superglass by Etex, Wienerberger, Barret Redrow and CEMEX. It is also expanding across Ireland, securing partnerships with Gyproc through its LOOP partners in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, CJ Sheeran.
Further momentum came with the launch of the company’s free three-day collection service, designed to make pallet returns faster and easier for contractors and builders. In addition, it has also continued to strengthen its leadership team with the appointments of Dan McKane as Business Development Director and Ian Broad as Sales Director.
The Pallet LOOP’s progress has been recognised through a series of major industry awards and shortlistings. Achievements include winning the Builders Merchants Federation Sustainability Award 2025, Supplier of the Year at the Builders’ Merchants News Awards, and the Sustainable Materials Award at The Supply Chain Excellence Awards 2025 in partnership with Scott Pallets.
Furthermore, it has also been shortlisted for the Green Business Award at the British Business Awards 2025 and the Circular Economy Innovation of the Year Award at the edie Awards 2025. Most recently, The Pallet LOOP secured two accolades at the Hardware Association Ireland Innovation Awards & President’s Ball 2026, winning both the Best Build Product Award and the Overall Sustainability Award.
Managing Director Andy Williamson said: “Over the last two years, we’ve shown that a circular approach to pallet use in construction is not only possible, but commercially viable and scalable too. The industry has really embraced the concept of recovering, repairing and reusing pallets, and the momentum we’re seeing across the supply chain is incredibly encouraging.
“Every pallet returned is reducing waste, cutting carbon and helping construction businesses operate more sustainably, which is exactly what The Pallet LOOP was created to achieve.”
