The building materials industry is being urged to turn yellow on Friday 18th September as Maddie’s Day returns, with businesses and individuals encouraged to get involved and help raise awareness of the Maddie Rose Foundation.
The Maddie Rose Foundation promotes and supports young people across the building materials sector, helping them to enter, progress and shine in what it describes as a vibrant and welcoming industry. The Foundation works to “remove barriers, fund opportunity and connect young people with employers helping them build skills, confidence and experience.”
And as part of its goal of assisting young people move into “sustainable careers within the UK building materials sector while strengthening the long-term future of the industry,” each year Maddie’s Day provides an opportunity for the industry to come together, wear something yellow and share their pictures across social media in support of the Foundation.
There are no rules when it comes to choosing what to wear, and participants can opt for a yellow bucket hat, a bright yellow T-shirt, lemon-coloured shorts, a neon yellow tie or a sunflower-yellow dress… For those who would rather not dress up, even a photograph of some bright yellow flowers can help spread the message.
The aim is about much more than simply wearing yellow or raising money.
Maddie’s Day celebrates the life of Maddie, who was passionate about the building materials sector and inspired so many people to come together in her name to help build future careers. The day also provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the work of the Maddie Rose Foundation and the support it provides to young people looking to enter and develop their careers within the sector.
“Donations to the Maddie Rose Foundation are always welcome,” the Foundation says, “however, Maddie’s Day is about more than fundraising – it’s about raising awareness of the Foundation.”
Everyone across the industry is encouraged to get involved to take photographs, videos and share them across social media. Participants are asked to use #MaddieRoseFoundation and #MaddiesDay26 so that the industry can see just how much yellow has been brought together in Maddie’s name.
Get your yellow on. Share your pictures. And make your yellow count on Friday 18th September for Maddie’s Day.
