
Citing improved Supplier access and the opportunity to increase margins, Wokingham-based Anderson Roofing Supplies has become a new Partner of NBG.
Joining the buying group to “benefit from access to its online Hub, Supplier deals and a wider support network of fellow independent merchants,” Anderson Roofing was founded in 2003 and operates from two branches — its main Wokingham location and a second in Camberley, which opened in October 2019.
Sales Director Gavin Smith has worked in merchanting since 1998 and joined the company in June 2010. He believes the partnership is already helping in practical ways: “Since joining, we’ve been able to buy directly from Suppliers we couldn’t reach before, and that’s given us better pricing. NBG has already helped in areas like UPVC plastics, and that means we can offer our customers more competitive quotes.
“Being part of NBG gives us a wider support network whilst being able to remain independent and retain our own identity. We now have access to Suppliers we couldn’t reach before, which will be invaluable in enabling the business to grow. It’s early days but we can already see the benefits of being with NBG and we know we made the correct decision in joining.”
Anderson Roofing’s application to NBG followed an introduction from Keith Page, Managing Director of Brian Gow Roofing Supplies, which became an NBG Partner in January 2025. Since joining, Gavin says Anderson Roofing has received excellent onboarding support: “Our staff have had training on the NBG Hub both online and in-person, and [NBG’s Category Buyer for Roofing & Insulation] Mark Smith visited to run through rebate processes and how benefits are tracked.”
Beyond price, Gavin highlighted the value of peer support: “Everyone has been so welcoming, friendly and helpful. The practical advice we’ve had from other independents is testimony to the NBG’s strength and has made the early weeks of our partnership go smoothly.”
