TV personality Nick Knowles has been announced as the final speaker for the BMF All-Industry Conference in Dubrovnik in June.
Nick presents one of the nation’s best-loved transformation programmes, DIY SOS, where trades come together to create a new or renovated building that dramatically improves the lives of its occupants.
The show’s popularity is in no small part due to the many local trades that volunteer their skills and time for free on each job, and to the merchants and building material suppliers who regularly offer support. Nick is said to always stress that the show would not be possible without them.
Over the past 12 years, Nick has also hosted Saturday night quiz shows for BBC1, and in 2017 he presented a documentary following a group of 10 unlikely runners living with or affected by different mental health issues as they trained for the ultimate test of mind over matter, the London marathon. In 2018 he also appeared as a contestant on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.
John Newcomb, BMF CEO, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Nick Knowles to Conference this year. Many BMF members – merchants and suppliers, national companies and independents alike – and their customers have supported projects on his construction show. Anyone who has watched the programme has seen how it transforms lives, and how it celebrates the spirit and professionalism of the building community.
“Nick’s involvement in mental health awareness chimes with yet another theme at this year’s Conference. His presence completes a fantastic and diverse line of speakers at the industry’s main event of the year.”
The BMF All-Industry Conference 2019 will take place in Dubrovnik from 13 – 16 June. Broadcaster and TV personality, Gethin Jones will host the sold-out event.
